Repetition

                                                                             Repetition

The artwork above demonstrates the use of Repetition in design. Repetition is the intentional reuse of elements like shape, size, color, texture, direction, position, space and gravity. In simple word, if we use the same form more than once in a design, we use it in repetition. This artwork has been organized within a 4x3 grid structure, outlined by a thick dark border. Each of the nine squares contains a different abstract pattern or element. Six squares feature large circles with various shading and internal lines. Four squares are filled with intersection of straight black lines. Other two of them feature abstract shapes solid black background

However, even though all of these boxes shows different designs, they demonstrate the use of Repetition of elements in the artwork. The most apparent form of Repetition is twelve-panel grid. Each of grid shows same size, position and structure, supporting the repetition of size, space, and position. The Circles are repetition of shape, appearing in all the corner boxes and the middle column. These circles also share repetition of texture. Boxes on top and bottom middle reflects the repetition of position, shape, space, and texture. The other four boxes reflects the intersection of lines through repetition of texture. The entire artwork represents the repetition of black, gray, and white color. The most challenging thing in this artwork was to maintain the use of repetition.
